Gadsden Times - August 17, 2011. Sprucing Up Cherokee Rock Village

 

Cherokee Rock Village is located in Cherokee County, Alabama at Sandrock, overlooking Leesburg.  On one day I was there to take photos, it was crowded with people on boulders each direction I looked.  On another day, smoke from a wildfire prevented decent photos.  This is a popular camping and rock climbing site. Upgrades to the location are in the works.  More trails, real restrooms and improved camping sites are among the announced changes.  See the Gadsden Times article for more information.
